“365 Boxes:” Day 31

by | Jan 31, 2023 | "365 Boxes" | 1 comment

Today’s box is fairly easy, but since the project is wrapping up its first month, it’s time for a progress report.

Box 31: Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023

CONTENTS: This box contains portions of other boxes, a beat-up plastic tray, two magazine holders (useful for, say, old copies of Nutrition Action), a roll of tickets and dozens of prescription drug bottles.

DISPOSITION: The boxes have been recycled. The plastic tray was tossed in the garbage. We’ll donate the magazine holders. I think we’ll hold onto the tickets for the inevitable “365 Boxes” raffle. The prescription drug bottles are a bit of a challenge. The household Master Recycler called my attention to the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s online guide to reusing items (an essential resource), which has information about an organization in Ohio that accepts mailed shipments of the bottles (but read the fine print carefully).

“365 Boxes:” January progress report

Before I started this project, I took a photo of the inside of my garage. It looked like this:

After removing 31 boxes during January, I took another photo today from about the same location. It looks like this:

Oh, dear. It looks like one of those old picture puzzles from Life magazine: Can you identify 10 differences between the photos?

Well, I knew I was in this for the long run. Thanks for sticking with “365 Boxes” thus far. Keep tuned for news about the raffle.

If you’re coming late to the whole “365 Boxes” project, here’s the blog post that got it all rolling.
