“365 Boxes:” Day 47

by | Feb 16, 2023 | "365 Boxes"

Diane challenged me to tackle a difficult box today, but I didn’t have the energy. So there’s this:

Box 47: Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023

CONTENTS: Again, this isn’t a box: It’s a laundry basket with an assortment of items tossed into it — a couple of still-usable bicycle helmets, some egg cartons, empty plastic garbage sacks with nothing in them, two pairs of athletic shorts I no longer use, a variety of rags and a couple of sacks with nothing but crumpled butcher paper inside.

DISPOSITION: Relatively easy to handle, even in a low-energy state. The bike helmets will be donated. There are locations around town that happily accept clean empty egg cartons. The shorts are in relatively good shape, so we should be able to donate them; if not, we’ll repurpose them as rags. I’ll relocate the garbage sacks under the kitchen sink for later use. We have a spot in the hall closet for rags. The paper will be recycled. For the time being, I’ll hang onto the laundry basket, which now that I think about it, sort of defeats the entire purpose. But I’m too weary to give much thought to this tonight.

AN UPDATE: I wrote on Day 46 that I was going to place my copy of the Louise Erdrich novel “The Beet Queen” in our Little Free Library. But upon reflection, I think it might be fun to read aloud to Diane, so it might be awhile before the book gets placed there.
