“365 Boxes:” Day 29

by | Jan 29, 2023 | "365 Boxes"

I can’t complain about today’s box, especially since my spouse basically agreed to take it off my hands. Which brings me to this word of advice: If you’re inspired by the “365 Days” project, be sure that all the people who live with you in the residence are behind it — because it can get messy.

Box 29: Sunday, Jan, 29, 2023

CONTENTS: This box — actually a Costco shopping bag — is filled mostly with copies of Nutrition Action magazine, the monthly publication from the Center for Science in the Public Interest. My spouse subscribed to it for years. It’s a fine publication, but it did get a little repetitive over the years. My spouse agreed to review the issues but wanted to hang on to a few copies for future reference. That seems fair. She also wants to keep the copies of Triangle, the Buddhist magazine. Again, I’m agreeable. The bag also contains a copy of the 100th anniversary issue of The New Republic — this is the only copy of the magazine I’ve saved after a subscription that lasted for many years. Oddly, the bag also contains a little crocheted toy.

DISPOSITION: Most of these magazines will be recycled. We’ll clean the toy and see if we can donate it. As for the Costco bag, I’m not sure how we got it in the first place; it’s been a long time since we’ve been Costco members, and we let our membership lapse in part because I kept insisting on buying pens by the gross, as hard as that might be to believe. My spouse says she got the bag from her cousin — so that’s going to be my story, and I’m sticking with it.
